The Living Bible has been criticized for its inaccuracy as a paraphrase rather than a translation, but my green padded Living Bible was precious to me. I wrote in it, actually read it, and memorized from it. If there are mistakes in translation, as I’m sure there are, the Holy Spirit was nevertheless able to apply the Scriptures to my life as a teenager as I studied Kenneth Taylor’s readable, accessible paraphrase of the Word of God.

Sheryl, thank you for posting this news. I was one of millions whose life was impacted by the work of Dr. Taylor. I have linked to your post from my blog. BTW, according to the date of death, he died yesterday, not last Wednesday.
When I was a new Christian, his was my favorite. I rarely use it today, but have warm memories of how it opened up new meanings for me. I didn’t know he had died. Thanks for your always excellent and thoughtful posts.
