The Prydain series, starting with The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander.
I really liked the Boxcar Children books when I was a child. The idea of four children living in an old boxcar on their own was intriguing to me. Such independence!
Name your 3 favourite non-series children’s books.
Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne
Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott. It does have a sequel, but it’s not a series. A Ring of Endless Light by Madeline L’Engle Mrs. L’Engle also wrote other books about the characters in this book, but I wouldn’t call it a series either.
Name 3 favourite children’s book characters.
Anne Shirley of Anne of Green Gables
Bilbo Baggins of The Hobbit
Toad of Toad Hall
So what are your favorites?

I’m not sure if these qualify strictly as series, but I love the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary, The Borrowers books by Mary Norton and, of course, the Narnia series.
Three favorite non-series books:
A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett
The Treasure Seekers by Edith Nesbit
The Dolls’ House by Rumer Godden
Three favorite characters:
Oswald Bastable of The Treasure Seekers
Lucy Pevensie of Narnia
Eeyore
Hello. I replied over at M-mv. It’s a funny thing, meme… so much must be discarded to bring one’s answer down to three (or two or five or whatever the poll requires).
I find that I was actually alarmed to realize I loved Grandma more than Anne, George and Martha more than Frog and Toad, and so on.
Anyway, happy Thursday.

Ohhh….fun. I’m gonna answer on my blog.
I LOVED the Boxcar children. I wanted to live in a boxcar, too. My list is on my site, posted on 2/7. I like your site!
