National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month

April is such a great month–poetry and grilled cheese sandwiches. How do you make yours? We melt butter in a skillet and then put the bread in to soak up the melted butter and toast. Then put the cheese on top of one piece of bread and put the other piece on top. Cook until browned and the cheese is melted.

  1. Well, who knew?
We must come by this inately here in Wisconsin! My daughter has been making Grilled Cheese sandwiches in the last few days!
    Amazing :o)

  2. Well, “it heats up BOTH sides simultaneously” is what I meant to say. And it makes those fun grill marks in the bread. 😀 Yummy!

  3. Interesting. I’ve always buttered the bread, not the pan. Which makes the outside nice and crisp, and the inside soft but not greasy. My daughter had a friend in 5th grade who used to love my grilled cheese sandwiches. “You make the best grilled cheese, Mrs. Jones!” she would gush. I just figured she was sucking up to me.
