Saturday Review of Books: April 14, 2007

Welcome to this week’s Saturday Review of Books. Here’s how it works. Find a review on your blog posted sometime this week of a book you’re reading or a book you’ve read. The review doesn’t have to be a formal sort of thing. You can just write your thoughts on a particular book, a few ideas inspired by reading the book, your evaluation, quotations, whatever.

Now post a link here to the specific post where you’ve written your book review. Don’t link to your main blog page because this kind of link makes it hard to find the book review, especially when people drop in later after you’ve added new content to your blog. In parentheses after your name, add the title of the book you’re reviewing. This addition will help people to find the reviews they’re most interested in reading.

Thanks to everyone for reviewing, blogging, and linking.

Peruse past Saturday Reviews.

  1. I’m adding our chat about Amy Wachspress’s brilliant adventure “The Call to Shakabaz” — a chapter book for the 5 to 15 crowd that is thoroughlyengaging, humourous and entertaining yet full of inspiring, educational ideas about, self-discovery, social justice, nonviolent resistance, environmental responsibility and much more.

    Thanks Sherry!

  2. It’s been a few weeks since I contributed to the Saturday Review, so I’m glad to link to my review this week of The Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan.

Now I’m off to Alabama Bound, our library’s annual book and author festival! I’ll be posting a report about it on my blog.

  3. I’ve been meaning to say “welcome back to the blog.” I know that the Saturday Reviews continued without you, but you were certainly still missed.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. I love to read but procrastinate when it comes down to actually sitting down and writing the reviews. So as I read I make notes so as not to forget a few details. I generally read a book every day or two depending on the size.

  5. I started a new forum several days ago (about 3 days ago) that is dedicated to both authors and readers alike. It also provides live chats and we are scheduling live chats so that readers can talk with their favorite authors. It also has a reading group. If interested check it out at:

  6. I just finished reading Randy Alcorn’s Safely Home and would HEARTILY recommend every Christian picking up a copy and reading it. I left the contact info for the publisher on my blog if you’d like to order it directly.

  7. Hi Sherry! Just wanted to let you know that this Saturday Review of Books does not show up when I press the “review past SRB” link. Don’t know if it can be remedied or not but thought I’d let you know.
