  1. My son, Tom, enjoyed a Henty book called Among Malay Pirates years ago. Would Swiss Family Robinson count? The Bounty trilogy is good, and several of my children enjoyed those. Maybe Tales of the South Pacific by Michener, and Typee by Melville?

We’ve checked out Foods of the Philippines and liked it. I Married Adventure by Osa Johnson covers some of the South Pacific. And these may be totally off the page but popped into my head:
The Mysterious Island – Jules Verne
    The Coral Island – Ballantyne
    Treasure Island – Stevenson
Pippi in the South Seas – Lindgren
