Maybe I'm just saying that because I had to read Gilead for class but wow, it's tedium at its finest. Okay no, I'm being harsh. It's a pleasant read. Nothing exciting happens but yeah, if you inject a few dozen latent desire theories into your understanding of the story, you could make it interesting. John Ames, don't you ever dare wake up.
