I just loved reading Philbrick's Mayflower and learned new things too. I especially liked the Mary Rowlinson story!

That account of reading *Kristin Lavransdatter* sounds all too familiar. Except I had small children, so I *must* have done the household work somehow. I would say with the book in one hand, but I got the whole trilogy in one volume and I'm not sure I could have lifted it one-handedly.

We LOVE Jim Arnosky around here!

And yes, I have a copy of Man Gave names to all the Animals sitting on my desk here. It's beautifully illustrated, of course! The text is the song lyrics and I still haven't heard the song. There is a CD with the book but I haven't popped it in yet.

Love the bold colors that Arnosky chose for this particular book and, like I said, it's beautiful. I just feel like the read is awkward because of the lyrics - you are repeating phrases and that just feels funny being read. Anyway - I was still excited to see it because --- it's Arnosky!

According to the author, he simply thought up as many religions as he could and distributed it to the cultures. However, he could have thought of a less emphatic way to present them. :D
